Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to commemorate the brand's centennial. It is constructed of Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight keys, as well as a booklet featuring never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

It's a great present to greet a new owner of their luxurious car.

Aesthetics

As a design-driven company, Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It shows in the precision position of its quilting, the choice of leather sourced from the by-products of cattle, wood from sustainable forests and the innovative patterns on its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you walk up to it to show its sculptural beauty and power through carefully curated lighting.

It is this bespoke design, craftsmanship and attention to detail that have established Bentley as the most sought-after automobile brand. The firm continues to push the boundaries with the latest technology and craftsmanship, including the introduction of a digital instrument cluster, an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof, an artisan-made docking station for Apple iPads and electrochromic "smart" glass that can be changed from opaque to transparent with the push of one button.

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in the year 2019 100 years after it was established. The marque, which is now owned by Volkswagen alone following years of dispute with BMW and Volkswagen, has planned a range of special launches and events to celebrate this milestone. Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its luxurious and ostentatious automobiles and keys, but even keys are made to stand out. The Bentayga key is crafted from sterling silver and features an enormous 'B' design which lets everyone know that you're driving a Bentley. The key is also embossed with the dates 1919 and 2019, to commemorate the company's centennial.

Bentley Mulliner reinvented and designed the Mulsanne to become the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. It comes with two pairs of rear seats that were inspired by luxury private aviation, providing passengers with unparalleled comfort and privacy. The bespoke heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system was created to provide each passenger with the ideal climate control settings.

Alongside a series of exquisitely executed styling tweaks, the Mulsanne is powered by twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine capable of producing 560bhp and 479lbft of torque. This incredibly powerful power is paired by a brand new suspension system that offers Bentley's signature quiet ride.

Bentley has launched a new specification for cars made after the year 2019 in order to celebrate its centennial. This is referred to as the Centenary Specification. This includes contrast stitching and cross-stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered in Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. A custom Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spaces. Utilizing this feature can aid in getting in and out of your vehicle more quickly.

The key is made of vegetable tanned leather and takes over two days to craft each one. It is cut by hand shape, sewn, sealed and polished to give the highest-quality finish. It is small and sturdy, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design resembles the Volkswagen Phaeton's huge car key, but feels more heavy and premium.

It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key which can help prevent theft of keys that are keyless. This device is put inside the remote control key fob and is turned off after a few minutes of inactivity. This stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values which include exquisite craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as cutting-edge technologies. Over 4,000 employees work at the Crewe headquarters, responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley cars. They employ skills handed over generations and then apply them to cutting-edge automotive technology. This is the characteristic of British manufacturing at its finest.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own vehicle. The "mood station" allows customers to choose images that inspire them. They can range from picturesque vistas to sporting events. After each selection is made, a pattern emerges which shows the model and color preferences for the customized Bentley.

The resulting configuration is stored on individual R.F.I.D.-enabled keys which are handed out to the guests in a handmade key case. Keys can be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the way of the door's opening. They are adorned with the owner's logo or name as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to build and construct a Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a reluctance to adopt the latest technology. Instead of employing a machine for spacers to the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built-in sensors guide it into parallel and perpendicular parking spots, drivers have to perform the task by hand.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities in the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O.
